Project Manager, Meet the Playwright

Mai Lê Hô is a French-Vietnamese movement artist, cultural strategist, curator, and educator based in New York City. She is the founder and Artistic/Executive Director of LayeRhythm Productions, Inc., a nonprofit organization rooted in street and club dance culture. Since launching LayeRhythm in 2015 - a groundbreaking performance platform layering freestyle dancers with live musicians and vocalists, acclaimed by The New York Times - Mai Lê has produced over 130 editions in NYC and beyond.

Alma participated in exhibitions in several countries such as Bangladesh, and Bhutan, and several states in the USA such as Boston, Ohio, and Georgia. “Memoir” was the first and biggest group exhibition with 35 Bengali artists in NYC and was curated by Alma Leya. She not only ensured the exhibition was worth praise, but her leadership and execution were appreciated by the Director of JCAL. Two of Alma’s public art presenting Bangladeshi folklore stands tall in Cleveland, Ohio. The art pieces are greatly appreciated by the Bangladeshi folks living there and welcomed by the different communities. Alma is a registered artist under NYFA and has received several scholarships and grants. Besides, she volunteered in different institutes including JCAL.
