Kevin W. Alexander
Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation
Alexander has served as President & CEO of Rockway Development & Revitalization Corporation in 2006. Under his leadership, he has developed a host of strategic public-partnerships and investments focused on human capital development and community economic development totaling over $45Million. These investments are focused on creating access to employment, educational, and career opportunities youth and adults, preserving local neighborhoods through homeownership, creating livable and vibrant downtowns, and expanding opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses.
Alexander’s accomplishments include expanding paid jobs for youth from 600 to 2,000 youth annually and establishing over 400 worksite partners to provide real-world job experiences for low- and moderate income youth. For adult job seekers, he successfully pivoted their adult employment services from traditional soft skills training to certified vocational skills training programs focused on technology, multimedia, communications, and aviation industries. Key to Alexander’s success includes establishing partnerships with Charter Communications, Queens Public Television, CISCO, Council for Airport Opportunity, National Retail Federation, Microsoft, and Google.
To support local civic, grassroots organizations, and faith institutions, Alexander invests thousands of dollars each year to support local events, and celebrations focused on celebrating the diversity and strength of the Rockaways community.
To assist established professional M/WBE’s secure contract and procurement opportunities, in the Fall 2024, Alexander in collaboration with NYS Senator James Sanders, Jr., and support of Resorts World New City launched the Southeastern Queens Business Incubator Program. The goal of the Incubator is to assist 60 M/WBE’s per year grow their businesses through course trainings, business advisory services, and professional networking opportunities in partnership with Small Business Development Centers, and Modern Community Capital. To date, the Incubator has successfully graduated 56 minority-owned businesses, awarded $48,000 in micro-business grants, and created new contract and procurement opportunities for its members.
Kevin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from St. John’s University, Master’s Degree in Public Finance & Management from New York University Robert Wagner School of Public Service, and Advanced Certificate in Executive Management from the John F. Kennedy School of Public Service at Harvard University.
Alexander’s board affiliations include Co-Chair of the JFK Redevelopment Advisory Board Workforce & Career Development Committee; Member of the NYC Pandemic Response Institute; Member, Episcopal Hospital Services Real Estate Board; and Board President of the Howard Memorial Fund
