Three Events This Week at JCAL

We're hosting three events to close out this week! Tonight, we're presenting a free financial literacy webinar in community partnership with Emigrant Bank.

April 9 will bring the next Thursday Night Jazz, to our stage, headlined by Alfredo Colon.

This Friday, you can learn how to DJ in our interactive workshop The Art of DJing With Chiquita Brujita.

Check it all out below!

Thursday Night Jazz Presents: Alfredo Colon

April 9, 8pm

153-10 Jamaica Avenue

Don't miss our next installment of Thursday Night Jazz! Alfredo Colon's playing has been described as authoritative and fiery yet mournful and melodic. Drawing on his interest in Dominican folklore and the works of visionary saxophonists Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman, Colon creates a musical atmosphere that highlights beauty by framing it in disarray.

New DJing Workshop This Friday!

The Art of DJing With Chiquita Brujita

April 10, 3pm

161-04 Jamaica Avenue

Join Chiquita Brujita for a workshop that will introduce participants to the art of DJing as both creative and archival practice. Through hands on-mixing and record selection, attendees will learn how to build sets they reflect personal, family, and cultural histories. The workshop will explore how music, art and memory intertwine, using DJing as a medium for storytelling and cultural preservation.

April 8, 7pm
