Curatorial statement: This one's intimate. Emotional. It's a multi-sensory experience about space, identity, nourishment, and the art of becoming. Loosely inspired by Babette's Feast, it goes beyond the dinner table. It's about unlearning, growing backwards to grow better, and honoring the moment your in - the chair you've earned through healing, mistakes and, just showing up.
Each room will be alive filled with scent, sound, visuals, food. It's art you walk through, sit with the taste. I call it urban foraging a method of creating that pulls from your surrounding with care and intention. That philosophy is in my cooking, my life, and now this show. It's personal. Honest. Nothing wasted, nothing fake. And yeah - This chair? It's taken.
About the Curator
Jesus Cacaido is an illustrator, creative advisor, cook, dinner party host, dog sitter, Mr. Do It All and now...officially a curator. Although new to his resume, the act of curating is something Jesus has practiced his entire life: “I’ve always brought artists into rooms, connected people who needed to meet, cooked for everyone, drawn the invitation, created the feeling, and made sure nobody felt left out.” Born in Colombia, raised in Brooklyn, and now he floats between NYC and whatever headspace he is in that day. It’s a ride. Jesus makes things — drawings, ideas, experiences — that bring people together. Food, art, music, storytelling... that’s his language. Jesus is constantly learning, unlearning, figuring it out as he goes. His work isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being present, honest, and real.
