Tyrel Hunt

Tyrel Hunt is a novelist, filmmaker, and Marketing Director from Queens, New York. After graduating as a Division One student-athlete, he has written, edited, and directed several award-winning films including his most recent feature "The Sound of Southside", (Adapted from his novel of the same name). The film won "Best Feature Film" at The Hip Hop Film Festival, "Oustanding Narrative Feature Film" at Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival, and "Best Urban Feature Film" at The Urban Film Festival in Miami.

He's earned fellowships and grants from orgs like The Louis Armstrong House Museum, NYSCA, NYFA, and Queens Council on the Arts, among others. His films have screened at The Schomburg Center, Maysles Documentary Center, Magic Johnson Theater AMC, and many other locations throughout the country.
