Introduction to Acting is designed to help students apply technique to scenes and monologues. Students will participate in several exercises aimed at helping them further develop not only concentration and focus, but also their imagination, movement, and vocal skills. Finally, this course will enable participants to hone rehearsal skills and processes so they can succeed in a variety of performance settings, empowering them to express themselves in a believable and truthful ways moment to moment—translating everyday human behavior and interaction into a complex and specific theatrical performance.
Learning Objectives:
1. Master Fundamental Acting Techniques: Students will learn and practice core acting skills such as voice control, body language, and emotional expression, enabling them to portray characters effectively.
2. Understand Script Interpretation: Children will gain experience in reading and interpreting scripts, learning how to analyze dialogue and understand character motivations.
3. Enhance Improv Skills: Through improv games, kids will develop their ability to think creatively and respond quickly, improving their spontaneity and adaptability in performance.
4. Build and Develop Characters: Students will explore character creation techniques, learning how to develop distinct and believable characters using various acting methods.
5. Improve Performance Confidence: By participating in class exercises and a final performance, children will build their confidence on stage, enhancing their public speaking skills and self-esteem.
