Cartooning for Beginners finds kids having a great time creating their own original action heroes, manga, anime, or humorous human or animal cartoon characters. Students will learn how to create stories and concepts that utilize their characters along with settings, backgrounds, props, narration, and dialogue in single panel cartoons and comic strips. Each student will produce a comic book to take with them at the end of the course.
Learning Objectives:
1. Character Design: Students will learn to create original cartoon characters with distinctive features, personalities, and expressions.
2. Drawing Techniques: Basic drawing techniques specific to cartooning, including line quality, exaggeration, and simplification to convey emotions and actions effectively.
3. Storyboarding: Introduction to storytelling through sequential art (comic strips or panels), focusing on layout, pacing, and narrative flow.
4. Inking and Coloring: Techniques for inking line art and adding color using traditional or digital methods to enhance visual appeal and storytelling in cartoons.
5. Creativity and Imagination: Encouragement of creative thinking and imagination through brainstorming ideas, improvising, and exploring different artistic styles.
