CTK Foundation Chooses a Winner
And the winner is…
In July, we asked you to help us apply for the CTK Foundation’s Heart & Soul Grant. We were looking for the perfect 4-8 line poem that reflected the “heart & soul,” or should we say the “art & soul” of JCAL. The winning poem would be submitted by JCAL to the CTK Foundation with the hope of winning the grant! A big thanks to all of you that put pen to paper and wrote a poem.
Well there can be only one winner. JCAL is pleased to announce that Amy Greenhouse is the winning poet! The judges were touched by her warm feelings for JCAL and the work that we do. As the winner, Amy will have her poem posted on JCAL’s website, and receive a gift certificate for a free JCAL workshop, a JCAL tote bag and merchandise.
Amy Greenhouse’s poem was submitted with our application to The CTK Foundation. CTK will award $10,000 to the non-profit organization with the winning poem! Fingers-crossed, it will be JCAL! But wait there’s more! Grammy-award winning group, Los Lonely Boys will create a song, based upon the poem, which will be professionally produced in a recording studio! They will also produce a video of the performance of the song, for non-commercial, community education and awareness.
The judging panel also selected two runner ups - Takayo Seto and Tatiana Perry. They will have their poems posted on JCAL’s website, and receive a JCAL tote bag and merchandise.
